Searles Castle was the perfect setting for Alexis and John’s springtime wedding. May in NH is a beautiful time to be married. Comfortable weather, gardens in bloom, and love in the air - what more could you ask for?
The castle is very unique, and exquisitely decorated. There were so many options for picturesque backdrops within its walls, and the decor shaped my vision for detail shots and portraits. The layout is ideal for the bride and groom to both get ready on site and not worry about crossing paths. Preparation and detail shots were lots of fun to set up!
Alexis and John shared a private first look in the courtyard, followed by portraits that included their family and bridal party.
These two are a perfect match, and it’s easy to see that they have found home in one another. Throughout the day, they were always gravitating toward each other, wanting to stay close.
The property of the castle is also home to a quaint reflection pond, a stone bridge, and a tower in the woods. We spent some time at these locations for more portraits.
As guests started to arrive, we once again used the interior of the castle for a few more unique portraits of the bride and groom. Lighting indoors can be tricky, so I used an off-camera flash to shape the light as needed.
Alexis and John’s ceremony was witnessed by family and friends, and included a beautiful exchange of vows and rings. Following the breaking of the glass, the bride and groom shared their first kiss as husband and wife. Mazel Tov!
Guests congratulated the newlyweds and celebrated with good food and drink during cocktail hour in the courtyard. As the sun sank behind the castle walls, Alexis and John shared their first dance to “To Make You Feel My Love” by Adele (this was also the song my wife and I danced to at our wedding!).
After dinner, we snuck out for some sunset photos, then the band kicked things off to get the party going. The dance floor was packed all night!
We also did a table dash! The bride and groom ran from table to table all in the span of one song. Such a fun (and quick!) way to get photos with all of your guests.
It was truly a pleasure to work with Alexis and John, as well as all of the vendors and people that made this wedding such a success. Thanks to all involved, and congratulations to the newlyweds! Wishing them a lifetime of happiness!
